Grande Alps Week
This trip will give you the opportunity to ride the same legendary cols as the pros ride in the Tour de France. You will experience the beautiful and iconic roads including the legendary Col de la Croix de Fer, Col du Glandon, Col de la Madeleine, Col du Galibier and last but not least Alpe d’Huez.
We know climbing a col in the burning sun can be an exhausting activity, but once you’re back at the hotel a refreshing drink on the terrace or a dip in the swimming pool will ensure a well-deserved cool down. We have selected a comfortable alpine hotel which offers great French mountain cuisine with a three-course dinner each evening and a hearty breakfast to fuel the days riding. We hope this will provide you with the perfect location for a week of cycling.

Sunday - Arrival day:
We will collect you and your bike from Geneva Airport at 4pm local time. We expect the transfer to Allemond to take about 2.5 hours. You will have time to meet the rest of your group over dinner together and we will introduce the week’s itinerary.
Today we ride over Col du Glandon to reach Col de la Madeleine (2,000m). The Tour de France has been tackled 25 times, first in 1969 and most recently in 2013, when Pierre Rolland triumphed on stage 19 in a race won by Chris Froome. We return via Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and back over Col de la Croix de Fer before descending back down to our Hotel for dinner.
Total distance: 160 km Total climbing 5,570 m
This is an easier day over two wonderful cols. First the relative small Col de la Morte (1368 m) and down to the beautiful village of Valbonnais and lake before ascending Col d'Ornon (1367m). Our big challenge of the day will be the 21 bends of Alpe d’Huez (1860 m)
Total distance: 120 km Total climbing 3,046 m
After a hearty breakfast we tackle the ‘Marmot’ of classic cols. We start by climbing from our hotel to the Col du Glandon (1,924 m) and Col de la Croix de Fer (2067 m) which takes us into the Maurienne Valley and the Col du Télégraphe (1566 m). Finally we tackle the big daddy of the day Col du Galibier (2,645 m). We then descend back down the valley to our hotel for well-earned rest and recuperation and celebratory dinner.
Total distance: 140 km Total climbing 5000m
Today we recover with an easy ride up the valley to spin out the legs and visit the village of Venosc for lunch. We then have a steady ride up Col du Sarenne (1999 m) and down Alpe d’Huez (1860)m to our Hotel for dinner.
Total distance: 90 km Total climbing 2,850 m
For your last day we will have a timed event up Alpe d’Huez and Col du Sarenne before climbing Alpe d’Huez for a second time and heading back to the hotel via Villard-Reculas.
Total distance: 85 km Total climbing 2,875 m
