Grande Pyrenees Trip

Product Description

This trip will give you the unique chance to ride the iconic cols of the Pyrenees including the legendary Col d’Aubisque, Col du Hautacam, Col du Tourmalet and Col Du Peyresourde.

Sunday – Arrival Day

We will meet you on arrival at Toulouse airport and take you to our charming, atmospheric hotel; ‘La Grange Aux Marmottes’, in the village of Viscos. You can use the time today to unpack your bike from its box and have a leisurely ride. During this evening’s dinner we will take the opportunity to go through the programme of the days to come. This is also a good opportunity to get to know your fellow group members.

Ride the second most famous pass in the Pyrenees – and quite possibly the most beautiful – the Col d’Aubisque. At 1,709m in the heart of the Midi Pyrénées it’s a legend with a rich heritage. It has appeared in the Tour de France every two years since 1910.
Total distance: 100km Total climbing: 1800m

Starting to climb from our hotel towards the village of Gedre then on to Gavarnie village we continue to climb up the Port du Boucharo 2230m to reach the Spanish border. We then drop back down the road and up the Cirque de Troumouse at nearly 2000m and stop for coffee at Auberge du Maillet.
Total distance: 90km Total climbing: 3500m

A ride round the Col du Tourmalet, a 100km round trip ride. This will give you a great introduction to some of the best Pyrenees climbs right on the doorstep.
Total distance: 100km Total Climbing: 2600m

A shorter day to rest the legs before our last day, however it’s still a challenging ride up the switchbacks of Luz-Ardiden and the ski station of col du Hautacam.
Total distance: 65km Total climbing: 3600m

The biggest day so far will give you the closest experience to riding a real tour stage. You ride from the hotel and climb to the Col d’Aspin (1,489 m) and on to Col de Peyresourde (1,569m). Situated in Haute-Garonne region of the Pyrénées, and almost exactly central from the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, the Col de Peyresourde is a classic climb that’s featured more than 50 times in the Tour de France. We make our way back down the valley and back over Col du Tourmalet. We will have a delicious 3 course evening meal with wine waiting for you at the hotel to celebrate your weeks achievements.
Total distance: 160km Total climbing: 5370m
